Two Nigerian athletes, Favour Ashe and Udodi Onwuzurike, have sealed silver and bronze at their respective events at the National Collegiate Athletics Association finals in the United States.
Tennessee Track and Field University freshman, Favour Ashe ran blazing 10.08.75s to win silver in the men’s 100m finals at the outdoor event.
Liberian, Joseph Fahnbulleh from Florida, who also won the 200m event, took the 100m in a PB of 10.00s while Carolina’s Javonte Harding took bronze in 10.08.79s.
His finishing time in the dash also helped him to an All-American status as he also helped the Vols to an overall third place finish at the NCAA Outdoor championships, the best for the school since 2002.
Udodi Onwuzurike of Stanford Athletics won bronze in the men’s 200m finals in 20.15s after Matthew Boling pulled clear in 20.13s for silver and Joseph Fahnbulleh completed the sprint double finishing in 19.83s which he said was him doing his race plan.
Udodi’s finish was Stanford’s highest finish in the event since 1963 which also earned the freshman an All-American honor.
