The Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF), under the leadership of Engr. Ahmadu Musa Kida, has expressed optimism for a transformative future in Nigerian sports.
During the Board meeting held on December 21, 2024, in Lagos, the NBBF commended the proactive measures adopted by the National Sports Commission (NSC) under the stewardship of Chairman Mallam Shehu Dikko and DG Mr. Bukola Olopade.
Engr. Kida highlighted the NSC’s new Reset, Refocus, and Relaunch blueprint as a game-changer for the sports sector.
This initiative emphasizes proper funding, structured planning, and strategic focus to propel Nigerian basketball to new heights.
“The interface between the NSC and sports federations has shown us a clear path for sustainable growth.
We are confident that with timely funding and support, Nigerian basketball will continue to achieve milestones, far beyond what we accomplished in 2024,” Kida stated.
The president’s optimism stems from Nigeria’s recent basketball achievements, including D’Tigress’ historic Olympic performance and the successes of the U16 team, J’Tigress, at the World Cup qualifiers.
These achievements underline the potential of Nigerian basketball under proper guidance and funding.
