Rivers Hoopers’ vice-captain, Buchi Nwaiwu, has emphasized the team’s commitment to respecting all opponents as they gear up for the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) Final Four, set to take place in Port Harcourt from November 23 to 25.

The NBBF selected Port Harcourt as the host city for the Final Four, and Nwaiwu, a key player in the Hoopers’ roster, expressed the team’s determination to avoid underestimating any of their rivals in the upcoming competition.
He acknowledged that reaching this stage signifies the merit of the participating teams and stressed the need for Rivers Hoopers to redouble their efforts in training and preparation to secure victory.
During a recent media tour, Nwaiwu, the 2018 FIBA Africa Zone 3 Most Valuable Player (MVP), highlighted the significance of playing in front of their home fans.
He expressed happiness and excitement about the prospect of giving back to the supporters who have shown unwavering support over the years.

Rivers Hoopers’ schedule includes matchups against Gboko City Chiefs on Thursday, followed by games against Hoops and Read on Friday and Nigeria Customs on Saturday.
The Hoopers, who last played a league game in Port Harcourt in July 2017, enter the competition on the back of multiple championship victories, including the 2018 FIBA Africa Zone 3 Championship, the 2019 and 2021 Nigerian League titles, the 2021 Crown Elite Championship, and the 2023 Louis Edem Invitational Championship.
