Hon. Darlington Maduba, Judo Federation of Nigeria (South East Zonal Representative) on Saturday presented Judo equipment to athletes representing Anambra State at the ongoing 7th edition of the National Youth Games.
The equipment presented to the team are four sets of Judo kits comprising of Judogi and Judo footwears. Hon. Maduba also promised a sum of N10,000 for each medal won by Team Anambra athletes at the ongoing NYG while admonishing the athletes to remain focused on the reason for being in Asaba as well as ensuring that discipline is their watchword.
Responding on behalf of the team, the State Director of the Anambra State Sports Development Commission (ASSDC), Madam Faith Okwonna thanked Hon. Maduba for the gift to the athletes and his support to Team Anambra which will go a long way in encouraging the athletes to put in their best at the games.
Okwonna who was represented by one of the team officials, Emeka Nrialike said the gesture is the first of its kind to the team from any of the different sports zonal reps. She assured that Anambra is ready to do exploits at the ongoing 7th NYG.
Team Anambra will feature four athletes in the judo event comprising of two males (Chidubem Ekemezie and Emmanuel Ifedibasia) and two females (Helen Chidiogo Nwike and Victory Ezekanma).
The combat sports event will kickstart this Sunday at the Multi-purpose Hall 2 (Ground Floor) of the Stephen Keshi Stadium Asaba, Delta State.
