Mr. Charles Ogochukwu, the spokesperson for the pool management, expressed the desire to provide Nigerian swimming enthusiasts with a top-tier facility for practicing their sport.

This ambitious endeavor by O’Jez Entertainment group commenced in 2015 when they took over the Swimming complex through an MOU signed with the Sports Ministry under the leadership of Solomon Dalong.

Since their takeover, the once dormant pool, which had languished for nearly 19 years, has been rejuvenated and has hosted a range of national and international competitions.

The extensive renovation process involved the replacement of critical components, including pipes, water supply and treatment systems, arena seats, and office facilities. These upgrades were pivotal in restoring the pool to its functional glory.

“We are looking to upgrade some of the facilities to bring the swimming pool complex to international standards,” stated Mr. Ogochukwu.

Under the diligent management of O’Jez Entertainment, the swimming pool has become a hub for competitive swimming, a training ground for national swimmers preparing for various competitions, and a venue for both national and international events.

Notably, it stands as one of the few Olympics-standard swimming pools in Nigeria, alongside the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City and the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba.

During a recent inspection of the National Stadium Complex, the Minister of Sports Development, John Enoh, commended the tireless efforts of O’jez Entertainment group in maintaining the complex and its surroundings at a high standard.

This recognition underscores the significance of dedicated management in revitalizing sports facilities and fostering a thriving sports community in Nigeria.
