Paul Maduakor, CEO Nigeria’s foremost sports kitting company Haggai Sportswear, and Zenith Sports has revealed that the National Sports Industry Policy draft which was publicized through a digital platform on Tuesday, July 28, 2020, will pave the path for national and foreign investors across the globe while also encouraging embracement of the new development from major stakeholders.
He posited in a chat with Sports247.ng: “Firstly before even saying anything about this draft, I want to take it from this angle, at least if Nigeria is pushing towards having a new draft after many years, it will make people out there to start taking us seriously, drawing the attention of investors within and outside the country.”
“Anything passed into law like having a sports industry policy will make sport a big business which it has always been knowing fully well the way they talk about it, there was a time I stated that jersey sales and purchases are enough to run any football club in Nigeria but without policy, all these assertions won’t be taken seriously.”
“It is good to celebrate every little success, but it’s high time to support the minister and his ministry because they are ready to drastically change the sports industry to what it ought to be, it is not enough to rejoice over the draft, we should be against those who won’t support this motion, it’s so expedient to begin to see sport as a big, lucrative business, Nigeria must stand out and see it as enormous as it is”, he concluded.
Established in 2016, Haggai Sports provides athletes with the most innovative performance apparel and accessories for a variety of sports (including inter-house sports) and other sporting activities. With several brand stores across the nation, the Haggai Sports brand has since become the most sought-after sportswear brand in Nigeria.
