The Gombe State Sports Commission on Saturday expressed its readiness to host the 2022 National Sports Festival North-East Zonal Elimination.
The Executive Chairman of the Commission, Dr. Larry Daniel has confirmed that the Commission with the support of the state government will host the Zonal Qualifiers for the forthcoming National Sports Festivals held in Delta State later in the year.
Recalled that the Northeast Zonal office of the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports in a letter informed the Commission of its request to host the event.
A statement from the commission on the weekend gave the information to the public. “After due consultations and approval from the State Government, we’ve accepted the zonal office’s request for us to host the zonal elimination and we’ll do it to the best of our ability.
Gombe State is like a center in the Northeast, we’re ready to welcome everyone to the Jewel of the Savanah.” Confirmed the Chairman of the Commission.
Dr. Larry also stated that the commission’s decision to host the event is with the consent and support of the State Government “As you know, our State Government is sport loving and it’s doing everything possible to be supportive. We are glad about what the State Government did and we will do everything we can to ensure that we host a successful event.”
Various events have been lined up for the trials and two teams from each event will qualify for the Festival from the zone. In the same vein, the Commission has set up subcommittees that will assist in making the event a success. The elimination will run from the 3rd to the 7th of October 2022.
