The Special Assistant to the Governor of Anambra State on Sports, Hon. Emeka Egbutu has called and pleaded with the Anambra Government to construct an Indoor Sports complex in the state to enhance sports growth and development.
Hon. Egbutu made the call on Friday in an interview with Sports correspondent Iyke Nwokedi in Abuja, venue of the ongoing 19th National Sports Festival.
Hon. Egbutu stated that the present administration has done notably well in raising the bar of sports development in the state by the approval given for the state contingent’s participation in the Youth games held in Ilorin and of recent the ongoing 19th National Sports Festival where Team Anambra presented the largest continent in the South East geopolitical zone.
Hon. Egbutu said the construction of an indoor sports complex similar to the Velodrome of the Abuja National stadium will not only give the state an international outlook in sports but also serve as a source of tourism attraction.
Hon. Egbutu stated that if an indoor sports complex is put in place it will aid in no small measure in churning out talents from the hinterlands and giving them the latitude to make a career with their God given talent.
Hon. Egbutu called on stakeholders who have passion for the game to support the government by way of floating competitions and championships that will help in keeping the youths engaged with the aim of having a better society.
