As the date for the kick-off of 2020/2021 Nigeria Professional Football League season draws nearer, Nasarawa United FC is leaving no stone unturned to present a formidable squad when the new league season gets underway seventeen days from today.
Coming from a convincing 2-0 preseason victory against J14 Football Academy of Kuje, Abuja, at the Lafia City Stadium, this morning, Nasarawa United will be undertaking a four-day preseason tour of Kaduna State, beginning from Friday, 20th November 2020, where they are expected to get involved in some top-notch games, especially against continental representatives and four-time league champions, Kano Pillars, on Saturday, 21st November 2020, by 4 pm, at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna, in what could best be described as ‘Northern Derby’.
The Solid Miners will thereafter move to Jos where they will clash with other continental ticket holders and 2019/2020 League table toppers, Plateau United FC, at the new Zaria road Stadium, Jos, on Monday, 23rd November 2020, by 10 am. The match, too, is dubbed ‘the North-Central Derby’.
Speaking to the Club Media earlier today, Chairman, Barr. Isaac Danladi, said the team will also tackle Simo-Iben Football Academy on Sunday, 22nd November at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna, by 9 am, adding that the preseason tour is imperative to keep the players in good shape ahead of the fast-approaching new football league season.
He stressed that the decision to play such Grade ‘A’ matches was borne out of the fact that the team needed such games to better prepare them for the coming season, noting that both Plateau United and Kano Pillars are forced to reckon with in Nigerian and African inter-club football.
Nasarawa United will play their first game of the 2020/2021 Nigeria Professional Football League season at home against Wikki Tourists of Bauchi
