Nasarawa United FC has officially launched their pre-season preparations with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over KCD Academy at the FIFA Goal Project field in the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.
This friendly match provided an opportunity for the newly appointed coach, Adams Usman, to assess his squad as they faced a competitive team in KCD Academy.
The match began with both sides sizing each other up, but Nasarawa United controlled possession and created numerous goal-scoring opportunities. However, despite their dominance, the first half concluded without any goals.
The second half saw the introduction of fresh legs for Nasarawa United, and it didn’t take long for the breakthrough. In the 60th minute, substitute winger Ayuba Aboy, a new addition to the squad, showcased his skills by chipping the ball over KCD Academy’s goalkeeper, Eze Chukwuma. This fantastic goal was the result of a perfectly executed pass from right-back Abubakar Abdullahi.
Despite KCD Academy’s efforts to level the score, Nasarawa United held on to secure a crucial win. The victory marked the beginning of Coach Adams Usman’s pre-season tour in Abuja.
Nasarawa United will continue their pre-season preparations with more friendly matches in the Federal Capital Territory. After these warm-up games, they will return to Lafia for their first home game in the 2023/24 Nigeria National League, facing Jedo FC on Saturday, October 28, 2023. The win over KCD Academy is a positive start to their pre-season, and the team will be looking to build on this momentum as they prepare for the upcoming season.
