Chairman of Nasarawa United Football Club, Chief Barr. Isaac Danladi, has come out to say the Club is developing a new system that would allow for the recruitment of younger players to challenge for the next football league season.
Danladi confirmed this shortly after the Solid Miners’ 2-1 victory over hard-fighting Like Minds FC on Sunday at the Area 3 football field at the ongoing Unity Pre-season Tournament holding in Abuja.
Describing Nasarawa United as a modest Club, the Chairman was of the belief that football is now a game for the young and energetic as experience alone would not be enough to attain the required goals.
“We are a modest team, but very ambitious, too.
“I have been the Chairman of the Club for almost nine years now, and I think the farthest we have gone on the league was 11th position, while the best we have reached, so far, was between the 4th, 5th and 6th positions.
“So, I believe there is so much room for improvement, and coupled with the calibre of young players we are assembling today, the future will reward our efforts sparingly.
“Football isn’t for the old people anymore, it’s a game for the young and agile players.
“And if you look at our squad, you will agree with me that about 80-90% of them are the young boys we recruited recently, which tells you that we are following global best practices.
“In as much as I am not against older players, younger players tend to go an extra mile to get the job done because experience alone cannot do the magic.
“Once you are able to properly assemble the players, getting results will not be difficult as everyone will be in high spirit for any task.”
Nasarawa United finished on 6th position at the end of last Season, and are leaving nothing to chance to pick a continental slot this coming campaign.
