The Nasarawa State Government has assured the State’s female football team, Nasarawa Amazons FC, of more support to succeed as they prepare for the new football league season in Nigeria.
Permanent Secretary, Nasarawa State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Chief Barr. Isaac Danladi, made the disclosure on Wednesday when he hosted the Management and Coaching Staff of the Club who were at his office in Lafia for a congratulatory visit.
Danladi who expressed gratitude to Officials of the Club for the honour done to him following his appointment as Permanent Secretary explained that he and the Club’s Chairperson shared many things in common as regards football development in the State.
“Hajiya Husseina Suleiman, a retired Civil Servant from this Ministry, and I have moved through thick and thin together, and by the special grace of God, she is not only the Chairperson of the Club but Vice Chairman in the Board of the Nigeria Women’s Football League.
“She was an active basketball player in the old Plateau State and a renowned figure in the National Basketball Team in the past.
“Her experience in sports, particularly football, has brought so much achievements to the Nasarawa Amazons FC and its members, beginning from the players to the coaches – They are all over the National Teams of Nigeria and doing well.”
“People like Hajiya Husseina deserves all our support to take us higher, and which is why we are doing everything humanly possible to align ourselves with development partners to lessen the burden on the Government in terms of funding for the team and other sports so that they can compete favourably with their counterparts around the globe.
“Suffice to say that our amiable Governor, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, loves Nasarawa Amazons so much, and be assured of his constant support to the team to exceed all expectations as his administration’s mantra stands for. Yours is to continue with the good job you are doing.”
Earlier, Chairperson of Nasarawa Amazons FC, Hajiya Husseina Suleiman Nagogo, said she led the delegation to the office of the Permanent Secretary to congratulate him on his appointment and express their loyalty and support to his leadership to succeed.
She noted that she has had long and healthy working relationship with the Permanent Secretary and were colleagues-at-arms since the formative years of the Club
The Chairperson promised to sustain the good relationship between them and the Ministry and would always seek advice from the Permanent Secretary to enable her and the Club go higher.
Hajiya Husseina described the appointment of Danladi as one of the best things to have happened in the Youth and Sports sector in the State, as she applauded Governor Abdullahi Sule for the wise and helpful decision.
The Ministry’s Director of Facilities and Stadium Management who once served as Secretary of Nasarawa Amazons, Ahmad Yusuf, gave the vote-of-thanks on behalf of his Director-colleagues at the closing stage of the meeting.
