The injury kept him away from the Champions League group stage game against Union Berlin.
Osimhen initially traveled to Germany with his teammates for the Union Berlin match but did not stay with the squad. Instead, he flew to Nigeria for personal reasons.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Osimhen had discussed his travel plans with Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis. His trip to Frankfurt was scheduled, but not to stay in Germany or accompany the team to Berlin.
The recovery process for Osimhen’s injury is ongoing, and it is expected to take at least another 30 days before he can return to the pitch alongside his teammates.
Despite his injury and ongoing contract talks, Osimhen has drawn significant attention from top clubs. Liverpool recently joined the transfer race for the Nigerian striker, alongside other major clubs like Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United, and Paris Saint-Germain.

Napoli is still hopeful of extending Osimhen’s contract, which is set to expire in the summer of 2025. However, contract negotiations have hit a roadblock following a dispute related to a TikTok promotional deal with the club.
Amid speculations about his future, Osimhen has delivered a strong performance in the 2023/24 season, netting six goals in eight Serie A appearances. His return to full fitness will be keenly anticipated by Napoli and his fans as they look to strengthen their campaign.
