Napoli have completed the signing of Nigeria’s goalscorer, Victor Osimhen from Lille beating out Arsenal, Inter-Milan and host of other clubs for the Nigeria international, the club confirmed.
Gattuso who had shown keen admiration for the former Lille man was the key factor in completing the deal after reports that he’s willing to take a pay cut to get him leading his attack next season as they continue to push for silverware.
Osimhen, who enjoyed a dazzling debut season at Lille, emerging as the club’s highest goal scorer in the 2019/2020 campaign will be eligible to play when the league resumes next season.
Osimhen has put pen to paper on a five-year contract with the Naples-based club.
The 21-year-old Super Eagles striker becomes one of the most expensive African players of all time, reportedly at €60m including bonuses, while goalkeeper Orestis Karnezis is moving to Lille as part of the deal.
