The National Association of Nigerian Professional Footballers ( NANPF) has thanked Benue state Governor Samuel Ortom for responding and coming to the assistance of players of Lobi Stars who were involved in a fire incident last week.
Governor Ortom who paid the team a visit Saturday at the Aper Aku stadium Makurdi, where he presented a new 36 seater bus to replace the one that got burnt. Governor Ortom who assured the team of his administration’s continued supports at all times, also donated N10 million cash as a succour to the players and officials who lost valuables during the incident.
In a statement credited to NANPF’s President Tijani Babangida, MON, and released by the union’s scribe Austin Popo, it described the governor’s visit as a morale booster. According to Babangida, the governor’s action shows that he is genuinely concerned about the welfare of the team.
” On behalf of the entire members of the players union, home and diaspora, we say a big thank you to Governor Samuel Ortom for his timely response to the plights of the players and management of Lobi stars after the fire that gutted the team’s bus.
” We pray that God will continue to protect and bless him and all the good people of the state. We also pray that God will also protect our players and officials from known and unknown dangers,” the former Ajax Amsterdam and Super Eagles winger prayed.
