North Central, Chimobi Michael has expressed his excitement following his acrobatic strike which secured the maximum three points for his team in the ongoing Nigeria Amputee Football Championship 2023.
The competition has seen six zonal representatives from North-West, North-East, North-Central, South-West, South-East and South-South participate today as teams battle to make it to the grand final with the game set to continue tomorrow.
“It’s a good game for my team and we thank God for the victory, also the initiative that has given us this avenue to showcase ourselves because playing ball with a leg doesn’t get enough consideration from people but the federation has done well with this championship,” he said in his post match interview with Sports247.ng.
On scoring the only goal that gave his team North Central the win against South South which was also the first goal of matchday 1, Chimobi admitted that it was a good feeling.
“The team comes first but scoring to ensure that the team gets maximum points is so surreal and I feel happy that I am able to achieve that for our progress.”
“We want to go on in this competition till the very end, that’s the aim and we will keep pushing till the final day following this win,” he vowed.
