Women’s amputee football is a recent concept but it’s growing very fast in African countries and Central and South America.
World Amputee Football Federation has decided to establish a working group, which would regularly meet and work on the development of women’s amputee football in order to help reach a higher level and engage more women to participate in our sport.
In lieu of this development, the president of Nigeria Amputee Football Federation Paul Maduakor has said that the federation is working in alignment with the world body.
“For this, we are putting heads together to make sure that Nigeria also comes up with the women team and not just for the national team but also to set up a league for both male and female category across the country,” he explained.
“Part of what we are doing is to start having a courtesy visit to different locations, introducing the amputee to every sector in order for us to let people know that this game exists and to get more people who are ready to be part of us.”
In the upcoming weeks, the WAFF working group will gather all the updated data regarding women playing amputee football worldwide and prepare the promotion plan and activities which will focus on the development of this sport.
