A total of N5 million naira would be shared among the four teams in both male and female categories of U-20 Kessignton Adebutu football tournament which kicks off on Sunday at the Ojoniyun Sport Centre, Ebute- Metta, Lagos.
Match coordinator, Ganiu Ajibola disclosed this to our correspondent on Monday that the organisers had met with the cup donor, Chief Kessignton Adebutu popularly known as Baba Ijebu recently and he had promised to give four teams N2.5 million naira each in both categories.
According to him, the champions would receive a sum of N1 million naira with a giant trophy, while first runner up receive N750,000 as third and fourth position would pocket N500,000 and N250,000 respectively.The same prize money apply to girls category making N5 million naira at stake in the competition.
Ajibola said the competition would give the young players to showcase their talents and urged the players to be a good ambassador of their clubs during the competition.
“We would start the competition on Sunday and we have selected the teams based on their football pedigree in Lagos. Abdebutu Cup is not a ordinary competition so we don’t want indiscipline teams that would tarnish the image of the competition so all the teams we have selected are based on their football pedigree and discipline,” he said.
