Remo Stars forward Ariehi Kparabo ended the NPFL La Liga U15 Promises as the tournament’s top scorer with five goals courtesy of his brace in the 2-0 final win over Shooting Stars.
The striker had three goals entering the game which had Shooting Stars Samuel Ajayi and Gombe United’s Miko Dalha as the leading scorers with four goals each and the Gombe United’s forward was destined for the award according to the tournament’s rule of considering the number of games played if there is a tie.
“I’m very happy. It’s a very big privilege for me to win the tournament and still become the highest goal scorer and so I’m very happy,” he told Sports247.
Ariehi got the first goal of the game and the fourth of the tournament in the first half to put his team in the lead and completed his brace after a powerful run to see him score his fifth of the tournament to earn the top scorer award.
“My teammates used to tell me that I’ll be the highest goalscorer but I wasn’t really sure. Right now, I’m happy and grateful to God,” Kparabo said.
