Special Adviser to the Governor of Benue State on Media and Publicity, Terver Akase on Wednesday, redeemed his pledge of Twenty Thousand Naira (#20,000) to Elijah Ani who was the star of the rescheduled fixture between Lobi Stars versus Rivers United, played at the New Jos Stadium, Plateau State.
Mr Akase while making the presentation explained that, he embarked on this benevolence as a way to serve as a moral booster to aid Lobi Stars players who are the architect of the team to perform maximally especially as the team seek a continental ticket at the end of the season.
Responding to the gesture, the recipient Elijah Ani appreciates the kindhearted gesture initiated by Mr Akase and assured of more positive results ahead
The former Rangers International hitman played a key role that led to Lobi Stars’ huge victory over high-flying Rivers United.
The energetic centre striker was instrumental to Lobi Stars’ equalizer when he carefully laid the ball for Abba Umar before the 18-yard box to restore parity after the Makurdi-based side was a goal down.
He equally secured the maximum points in the stoppage time when he jumped taller and connected John Lazarus’ cross with a powerful header that proved decisive after the final whistle.
His several attempts were pushed for safety by the visitor’s goalie Darlington Ovunda. His movement and physicality throughout the match were nightmares for the Rivers United defence.
