Super Falcons defender, Onome Ebi as shared her story and told what is behind the success she enjoys now in football.
The former Bayelsa Queens star told CAFonline how she decided to take on football as a career. Ebi is practically a born footballer as she claimed she started playing football from her mother’s womb, couple with the fact that she played along side men when she was growing up.
According to her, making that decision was not an easy one as even her parents were standing as an obstacle to her footballing career. Ebi said her parents preferred her going to school to her playing football as football will disturb her studies. In her words
“my challenges, female football is full of challenges, like the one I encountered that almost stopped me and made me to stop was my parents. They really wanted me to stop and focus on my education, because they thought its affecting my education. Onome Ebi said
Onome Ebi is one of Nigeria’s finest players of recent times. A defender currently playing for Henan Huishang in the Chinese Women’s Super League and the Nigerian national team, Super Falcons. In 2019 she became the first African footballer to play in 5 FIFA World Cup Tournaments.
