MFM FC goalkeeper Adeniyi Bamidele has paid a touching tribute to his mother after winning his club’s Player of the Month award for May.
Bamidele has been in inspired form between the sticks for MFM in recent months, culminating with his side’s rise to 10th position in the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) table. He kept four clean sheets in four NPFL games in May as MFM FC picked up 10 points.
“My mom, she is the only one I have,” Bamidele told Sports247, dedicating the POTM award to her.
“She is the one that supports me. At a tender age, we started together. She has been encouraging me. Even the time I want to stop playing football, she encouraged me a lot and said ‘no’. You will do it. You will be there. You will make it. So everything goes to her.”
Bamidele also credits self-confidence behind his assuring performances. He said:
“I always believe in myself because if I could remember one of those things my coach tells me ‘eyes on the ball always’. So I always have that confidence in myself that can make a save.”
