“My Dad Inspired Me To Become A Goalkeeper” – Buruj FC Star Edet Inyang Says

Buruj FC were defeated 1-0 by BYT Academical FC in their Nationwide League One (NLO) matchday 17 encounter on Tuesday, but Edet Inyang can be proud of his performance in goal for the defeated side.

Inyang kept his team in the game with his spectacular saves, although they ultimately lost. Speaking after the game, the young talent told Sports247:

“I feel good, I feel nice about my performance but knowing that my team lost, I’m not happy with that. Our performance was good but we couldn’t get the result we wanted. In the next match, we’ll try to come out with a positive result.”

When asked what inspired him to become a shot-stopper, Inyang said it was his father, who in his youth had also played the position.

“My dad, he was a goalkeeper when he was young. I started out as an outfield player but then switched to being a goalkeeper. And my dad encourages me. My coach also.”

Inynag added that it is his dream to play professionally for top clubs in Europe, while also naming Barcelona star Marc-André ter Stegen as the current goalkeeper player he models his game on.

“My target is to play professionally in Europe. My dream is to play for a top team there, Chelsea or Barcelona. I look up to Marc-André ter Stegen.”
