‘My Anambra Football’ Super 8 MOC Inspects Neros And Ikpeazu Stadia Ahead Of Tournament

All is now set for the much-awaited ‘My Anambra Football’ Super 8 tournament as the members of the organizing committee led by its Chairman and a member of the Anambra State Football Association (ANSFA) Board, Prince Oliver Ndigwe, on Friday embarked on a facility inspection tour of the venues, Neros Stadium Nanka and Chuba Ikpeazu Stadium Onitsha.

The MOC embarked on the tour of the facilities to assess the readiness of the venues and as well ensure that no stones are left unturned towards having a hitch-free and successful tournament. Part of the assessment during the tour was the inspection of the playing surfaces, goal posts, dressing rooms, and pavilion.

Speaking to sports writers, Chairman of the Super 8 organizing committee and a member of the ANSFA Board, Prince Oliver Ndigwe stated that the committee went on a tour of the two stadia to inspect the facilities. Ndigwe highlighted that work is still ongoing at the Ikpeazu Stadium Onitsha but the committee is convinced that the stadium will be ready by monday which is the kickoff day. On the readiness of the Neros Stadium Nanka, he opined that the committee is satisfied by the work done and the pitch is very green and is near perfect for the semifinals and finals of the Competition.

Ndigwe commended the sponsor of the Competition, Aspire FC Adazi-Ani, for a good job done towards changing the narrative for football in the state via the upcoming ‘Super 8’ competition and ‘My Anambra Football’ slogan. He admonished the participating teams to adopt fair play during the competition and exhibit the spirit of sportsmanship as the championship is a platform to further unravel hidden talents in the state and bring them to limelight.

In his reaction, the Stadium Manager of Ikpeazu Stadium Onitsha, Mr. Maduka Okoye, stated that currently the stadium is 90 percent ready for the competition save for finishing touches and other technicalities geared towards having a memorable competition. He also said that arrangements have been made to ensure adequate security before and during the course of the competition. He emphasized that all COVID-19 protocols would be duly observed during the course of the football programme.

In her remarks Brand Manager of Aspire FC, Chidimma Ezeasor, emphasized that the tournament was a well-articulated measure to drive football, develop talents, nuture young and upcoming stars as well as build confidence in our youths. Ezeasor added that the competition provides an immense platform for the players aspiring to be professionals as it would equip them for the task ahead, even as cash prizes await winning teams including a Nationwide Division Two slot for the eventual winner of the competition.

Also amongst the team that embarked on the facility tour were the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Health Insurance, Hon. Dozie Okpalaugo and the Media Director of Aspire FC, Mr. Emeka Okoye.
