Former Nigerian international, Mutiu Adepoju believes that so much has changed over the years in the world of football both in the country and the rest of the world.
With so much money involved in football, price tags on players and high weekly wages and bonuses, Adepoju said present day footballers play for the money and not for the game.
‘i think time has changed and lots of things have changed in football. During our time, we believe playing bad winning is everything and if we don’t win, we won’t be happy. We put money aside bad focus on winning but now lots of money is involved and lots of people are in for the money’.
The former Real Sociedad man spoke on the achievement of the NPFL-La Liga partnership saying it is yielding expected results.
‘the partnership is giving results. We are trying to develop players which brought about the NPFL-La Liga U-15 tournament which produced the U-17 national team that played at the World Cup which is a sign of imminent result. It has also helped in making clubs have youths system in their organization’.
Mutiu Adepoju who is a La Liga ambassador played most of his footballing’ career in Spain with Real Madrid B-team, Racing de Santander and Real Sociedad.
