Ex Super Eagles midfielder Mutiu Adepoju has stated that head coach of the senior men’s national team Gernot Rohr does not need to adopt the style that brought about the successes of Nigeria’s golden generation in football.
Nigerian rise to football prominence became hightened in the early 90’s when the team booked qualification for it’s maiden appearance at the World Cup and also winning the 1994 Nations Cup in Tunisia.
Nigeria’s golden generation as the era was fondly called took Africa by storm winning trophies and also playing entertaining brand of football which many pundicts believe is missing from the current team led by the Franco-German.
The architect of that generation Clemens Westerhoff, remains the longest serving Coach in the team’s history as documented, but despite the comparison Gernot Rohr has also been successful since taking over the national team.
Rohr who qualified and took the Super Eagles to the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia has received backing from the former Real Madrid player stating the the coach must maintain the formula that has always brought him results. Adepoju told sports247.ng.
