In an exciting development that merges the worlds of music and sports, renowned musician Sunny Neji has teamed up with JONAC World of Sports to scout for football talent in Nigeria.
The initiative, which is currently in its first phase, aims to discover and nurture young footballers between the ages of 17 and 21.
Sunny Nneji, known for hits like “Mr. Fantastic” and “Ojoro”, was found at the stadium, indicating his involvement with the football team.
Speaking in an interview with Sports 247, he revealed, “Well, Journal World of Sports. It’s working together with some scouts from Spain in search of plenty of talent from Nigeria.
Of course, you know what football has become in the whole world. We have lots of energetic, creative, talented young men in Nigeria today.
So we’re presenting an opportunity to show what they have to these scouts from Spain.”
Neji’s involvement in this initiative is a testament to his commitment to giving back to the community.
Known for his integrity in the entertainment industry, Neji is now channeling his influence into the sports industry.
His aim is to provide young, energetic, creative, and talented Nigerian footballers with an opportunity to showcase their skills to scouts from Spain and around the world.
The program will be broadcast live, allowing scouts from all over the world to witness the wealth of talent in Nigeria.
Neji expressed his optimism about the program, stating, “And of course, we’re going to go live too, so that scouts from all over the world can also see the talents we have.
You can never tell what will happen, I’ll be very happy if we have a couple of very talented young men signed on from this programme to make all of us proud because it feels like we are doing something worthwhile for our country too, so this programme is being put together by Journal World of Sports and I’m part of it.”
The program is open to young men who are between ages 17-21. However, those who are 17 must be a few months away from their 18th birthday. This is to ensure that by the time they are selected and their paperwork is completed, they will be of legal age to travel.
Neji further clarified, “But if you’re 17, you have to be like a few months to your birthday. Just so if you’re good and they pick you, you can go. Because if you’re not up to 18, you can’t go, but you can be 17 plus.”
This initiative is a significant step towards promoting Nigerian football talent globally.
It not only provides a platform for young players to showcase their skills but also contributes to the development of football in Nigeria.
As Sunny Neji aptly put it, “it feels like we are doing something worthwhile for our country too.”
As the program unfolds, we look forward to seeing the emergence of new football stars from Nigeria.
