Musa: We’re Now Thinking Of AFCON 2019 Glory

Al-Nassr of Saudi Arabia striker, Ahmed Musa has disclosed that he and his colleagues in the Super Eagles will quickly put behind them the top spot in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and concentrate on how to do well at the continental soccer showpiece this June/July in Egypt.

The Eagles’ stand-in captain is excited with the atmosphere they gained against Seychelles at Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba and, though he will not play Tuesday’s friendly against Egypt, he believes the team will do well in his absence at the same venue.

Musa added that victory against Egypt on Tuesday will send a signal to the continent and help the Eagles put their preparations on solid footing with an effective take-off, as they go about showing signs of what they will do at AFCON 2019.

Although he had to riush back to his club after the 3-1 win against Seychelles on Friday, Musa said he remains committed to the Eagles’ campaign and pledged to give his best in the build-up to AFCON 2019.

The former Kano Pillars, VV Venlo of Holland, CSKA Moscow of Russia and Leicester City of England star, who is Nigeria’s top scorer ever at the World Cup, following braces against Argentina at Brazil 2014 and Iceland at Russia 2018, says he is always ready to carry the Eagles’ weight.

Musa retorted: “The Cup of Nations is less than three months away so our preparation has already started. The bigger picture is the thing.”
