The president of Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF), Amadu Musa-Kida has declared that the country will enjoy better fortunes from the sport in the coming year, as they will build on gains of 2018.
Musa-Kida stated in an interview with sports247.ng that he was happy to see the various national teams and clubs excelling during 2018, which he believes has laid a strong foundation for better things to come.
He further stated that basketball in Nigeria will continue to improve after the relative level of successes that have been achieved by various teams, even in the face of the heated polity.
Musa-Kida admitted that the leadership tussle rocking the NBBF, over who takes charge of running of basketball in Nigeria, affected league action in the country, but expressed hope that 2019 will be better.
He assured: “I believe that, in moving ahead, 2019 will be a better year for basketball in Nigeria, because we will consolidate on our gains.
“The NBBF will continue to encourage basketball players in Nigeria as well as back the technical teams to succeed even more.
“We will work even harder, in a bid to ensure that development of the sport will spread across all facets of basketball in Nigeria.”
