Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) president, Ahmed Musa-Kida has reeled out a long line of activities the body will be engaged in this year, and stressed that they must hit the ground running.
While reflecting on their high and low moments in the past year, sports247.ng can report that Musa-Kida is now looking forward to a busy 2019, which he hopes will be more successful than 2018.
He cited the All Africa Games and AfroBasket competitions as some of the major events Nigerian teams will be engaged in this year, hence his charge that all stakeholders must be on their toes from the word go.
Musa-Kida tasked all stakeholders in the game to brace up for another successful ride in 2019, for which he says the NBBF will hit the ground running, as they quickly put all landmark achievements in 2018 behind.
He also promised that efforts will be intensified to make the domestic league marketable, rewarding and conducive for players, coaches and team owners as well as attractive for sponsors and fans.
Musa-Kida declared: “Our 2018 achievements were not accidental but products of serious preparations and efforts of all the board members.
“Despite the challenges and unnecessary distractions, 2019 promises to be better. 2019 is already here and we can’t just wait to tip off.
“We have the All Africa Games, the Afrobasket for men and women, U-16 boys and girls and then the big one which is the World Cup.
“The time to start preparation is now as we urge all to join hands with us on this memorable journey.
“(We want to start early), while focusing on grassroots development and making sure that the Nigerian flag flies high outside our shores.”
