La Planet Sport Academia’s rising star, Muhammed Abdullahi, has emerged as the winner of the Taiwo Awoniyi Highest Goalscorer Award for the inaugural season of the Pro Route League.
The prolific striker netted an impressive 11 goals in 10 matches to outshine his competitors. He received the prestigious accolade on Sunday during the league’s final match day, which was graced by an enthusiastic crowd.
Known for his speed and precision, Abdullahi played a pivotal role in propelling his team to a respectable fourth-place finish. Expressing his joy, he said, “I’m very happy to receive this award. I dedicate it to my coaches and teammates. I promise to keep scoring and helping my team achieve success.”
His standout moments included a four-goal haul in a 7-0 victory over City Boys FC in Week 12 and a hat-trick against Skillz FC in Week 8.
Coach Sheriff Jimoh of La Planet Sport Academia commended the young forward’s exceptional talent and team spirit, predicting a bright future for him. “This award is a great achievement for Muhammed, and I’m confident it will inspire him to reach greater heights,” the coach remarked.
The award, named after Nottingham Forest and Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi, honors the legacy of a football icon who continues to inspire young talents.
