Team Manager of Prince Kazeem Eletu Football Club of Lagos, Eletu Muftau has explained why the team still on holiday despite the fact that many football clubs in the state have resumed back to their training ground.
Eletu embarked on holiday early last year December and the club is yet to resume back to training. Although their players are training with various clubs to keep themselves fit ahead of resumption.
While addressing the Journalists in Lagos, Muftau disclosed that the club purposely not to resume because of general elections going on in the country and naira scarcity which is biting millions of Nigerians and urged their fans to remain patience with the club at this critical period.
“We were to resume early January but the management led by Prince Kazeem Eletu Odibo himself said the staff should wait for a while to allow general elections and issue of naira scarcity be resolved because we all know that we camp these players, coaches and other staff and we cannot ask them to resume camp when the country is not stable,” he said.
Muftau revealed that the management had started doing underground work saying that the club would fully resume next month.
He however explained further that there would be a recruitment exercise to select fresh players to join the club and revealed that any old player fail to meet the club requirements would be asked to go.
“We are coming up with screening or recruitment exercise. We want fresh legs who are fit to the club philosophy. It is not going to be easy for the old players because our French coach who would soon hit Nigeria is looking for serious players who can deliver all the time,” he said.
