Head Coach of Ottasolo Fc, Olufemi Elijah has stated that most coaches in Nigeria place their personal needs ahead of selecting the right crop of players for their team.
The Amazing Coach stated this during his side’s 2-1 friendly win over SmartCity Fc, as they prepare for the upcoming NLO season.
In a chat with Sports247 Olufemi Elijah expressed his disappointment in most Nigerian Coaches picking players for their teams, based on bribery instead of merits. He also acknowledged that most of these coaches have a lot to offer, but does this, so as to enable them to take care of their personal needs.
“The problem we are having today in most teams is from our coaches, sorry to say. Most of our coaches are always on needs, that is why you see them selecting players based on bribery, instead of choosing the right talents for the team”.
“They (the coaches) always want something from players before selecting them, hereby making them drop the right talents in the team”.
“Most of these coaches have something to offer, but because of their needs, they have to pick players based on monetary returns in place of Natural talents”.
“The NFF should try and meet the Coaches needs and demands, and with that, I think things will change for good”, he stated.
Coach Olufemi Elijah will hope to lead his team to success when the NLO season commences.
