At the 36 Lions 23rd-anniversary celebration, end-of-year party, and U16 graduation event, Moses Usor emerged victorious, securing the prestigious Diaspora Lion of the Year award.
In a heartfelt interview with Sports247, Usor expressed his delight, commended the event’s organization, and shared insights into his European football journey.

Moses Usor, elated by his Diaspora Lion of the Year accolade, recounted his journey from playing against diaspora lions in 2021 as a home base lion to becoming a diaspora lion in 2023.
In the interview, he expressed, “I’m really happy about it because in 2021 I played against the diaspora lions. I was in the home base lions. So, I’m really happy playing against the home lions again. But now I’m playing as a diaspora, not a home-based lion. So, I’m really happy.”
When asked about the organization of the event, Usor praised Alhaji Gafar’s dedication, stating, “It’s good. It’s always good. The last time we played was great and today also is great.
Because Alhaji Gafar is always ready to prepare everything to make everybody come out to see the show, and I like it. Everything is cool for it.” His positive remarks affirm the consistent commitment of the organizers to deliver an exceptional celebration.
Usor had words of encouragement for aspiring players within his team, emphasizing the importance of prayer, hard work, and determination.
He stated, “The thing is, prayers first and work harder. Determination also. You pray, you work hard and determine what to do.” His advice reflects the mindset and values that have contributed to his success.
Reflecting on his European football journey, Usor expressed joy about his growth. “Yeah, in Europe number one, I would say last year was my first year in Europe, 2022, and I played the conference league.
I was happy playing the conference league for the first time, playing a European tournament for the first time in my life.” He highlighted the significant milestone of playing against Liverpool at Anfield, describing it as a dream come true.
When asked about his aspirations for the future, Usor shared his determination to climb the ranks in European football. “Everybody is looking up to play in a better team in Europe, like the top five leagues in Europe, so that’s my dream.
I am determined to target the top five leagues in Europe, to keep climbing till I get to the top.” His ambitious goals reflect a player with a strong vision and a relentless pursuit of excellence.*
