Super Falcons forward Desire Oparanozie is out of the Nigeria team for the upcoming 2022 Women’s African Cup of Nations billed for Morocco next month.
The development was confirmed on the team’s twitter handle yesterday stating that the Chinese outfit Wuhan Jianghan University player has subsequently been replaced by Anam Imo who plays for Piteå IF in Sweden’s top-division women’s league.
Also, Forward Chinwendu Ihezuo will not feature for Nigeria in the tournament next month and she has been replaced in the squad with Eskilstuna United DFF of Sweden top-division women’s league, Ngozi Okobi-Okeoghene.
“Just In: Ngozi Okobi-Okeoghene has been called up to replace Chinwendu Ihezuo and Anam Imo will replace Desire Oparanozie,” the tweet read.
The reason for the players’ exclusion from the squad was not made known in the tweet announcing their replacements.
Nigeria’s Super Falcons will begin their title defense campaign in the tournament against continental arch rival Banyana Banyana of South Africa Monday, 4th July, 2022.
