Joseph was a key part of the Kebbi Fishers squad that clinched the inaugural NBSL title in 2021. He also played a crucial role during the 2022 campaign, helping the team secure a silver medal finish.
For the past two seasons, he has been with their city rivals, Kebbi United BSC, leading them to a third-place finish in 2024. Now back at Kebbi Fishers, he is setting ambitious targets for himself and the team.
“It’s not like I fully left Kebbi Fishers,” Joseph clarified. “I returned late for training two seasons ago due to personal reasons, and the coach asked me to help Kebbi United BSC. That was the only reason I left.”
Now back in familiar territory, Joseph is determined to prove himself once again.
“My goal is to show that I am still the player I was before leaving. I want to win the league and return to my best. By God’s grace, I will give my all.”
Having played for both Kebbi-based clubs, Joseph understands the strength of his returning team.
“Kebbi Fishers is a well-organized team, from management to players and officials. The unity among the players is special. One thing I love about Kebbi Fishers is their encouragement—no matter the situation, they always believe in you.”
He also praised the club chairman for his motivational leadership.
“Even when I was losing hope, the chairman encouraged me. At one point, he told me he would hold me responsible if the team failed. That pushed me to give my best for Kebbi United BSC last season, and we finished third. Now, I’ve decided to return to my roots at Kebbi Fishers to give my all.”
Reflecting on the growth of beach soccer in Kebbi State, Joseph expressed optimism about the sport’s future.
“The game has improved a lot. Many players who were previously uninterested are now eager to participate. The local league has grown, attracting more attention. I believe next season will see even more teams joining, which will enhance competition.”
As he embarks on his second stint with Kebbi Fishers, Joseph is eager to make an impact and help the team maintain their dominance in the NBSL.
