Naija Ratels Football club shockingly squandered a two-goal lead to slump to a 2-3 defeat to highly enterprising side, Moje Queens on matchday 3 clash on Friday at the on-going 2020 Nigeria Women Amateur League (NWAL) in Benin City, Edo state.
Rekiya Onuku puts the Kaduna-based side in front in the 13th minute while Joy Ikygha doubled her side lead in the 22nd minute.
The Crocodile City side however could not keep their calm and maintain the momentum as they allowed rampaging and enterprising goal queen, Victoria Idehin to score twice in the 37th and 42nd minute for the Kwara state side to even scores at two goals apiece for the moment.
Determined to make a meal out of the match especially after pulling an inspiring 1-1 draw against city mates, Kwara Ladies on matchday 1 clash the Kwara state side kept pushing until they were rewarded with a well-deserved penalty. Suliat Ajibade calmly stepped forward to hit the back of the net of their opponents in the 72nd minute to seal a sweet victory for her side.
The victory has now taken Moje Queens on level points at the summit of the NWAL log on four points with Ubakala Queens and city mates, Kwara Ladies who have played lesser matches.
The second match of the day was a stunner as favourites, Omidiran Babes fell 0-2 defeat to Ubakala Queens.
Nancy Njimogu scored the match opener for the Umuahia-based side in the 32nd minute while Juliet Bassey grabbed the winner in the 61st minute of the hotly contested encounter.
The hard-fought victory has renewed hope in the Umuahia side dogged quest to vie for the top promotion tickets on four points from three matches.
Saturday will witness more thrilling fixtures as Kwara Ladies face highly disappointing side, Naija Ratels in the first match of the day while resurgent side, Moje Queens will confront ego bruised side, Omidiran Babes in the last day matchup.
The llorin landladies must beat convincingly the Crocodile City side if they hoped to meaningfully challenge for one of the two top prizes at stake.
The outcome of the clash between Moje Queens and Omidiran Babes will be too tough to call and could be the decisive between the sides will pick one of the promotion slots.
The six-day championship will come to a glorious end on Sunday with the two topmost sides winning promotion to the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) second tier league, pro-league.
