Okparaku emphasized the importance of offering George Finidi a permanent contract rather than keeping him in limbo on an interim basis.
Expressing his concerns, Okparaku stressed that evaluating Finidi’s ability solely based on two friendly matches against Ghana and Mali would be unjust and could undermine his confidence as a coach.
He urged the NFF to make a decisive move and either commit to George Finidi or seek alternative coaching options.
“They cannot use the two friendly games to analyze who he is,” Okparaku asserted. “They have to call him and give him a contract and make him feel free as the coach of the national team. If they don’t believe in him, they should not have given him this. But once they say we want you or we really need you, we want you to take over, they shouldn’t say, we want to watch you under these two matches. If I’m George Finidi, I will leave. I will drop it there and leave.”
Okparaku’s remarks reflect a broader sentiment within the football community regarding the uncertainty surrounding Finidi’s position. As discussions regarding the team’s coaching staff continue, Okparaku’s words serve as a reminder of the need for clarity and support for the coaching staff to ensure stability and success for the Super Eagles.
