The Honourable Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh, expresses profound sorrow and heartfelt condolences to the family of Ignatius Ajonuma, as well as the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), following the passing of one of Nigeria’s most prominent sports journalists and media personalities.

“I am deeply saddened by the news of Ignatius Ajonuma’s passing,” the Minister said. His extensive knowledge and passion for sports, coupled with his ability to communicate the excitement of sporting events to the masses, made him a beloved figure in our nation. Inspite of the challenges that surrounded him, he was never put down by them.”
The Minister continued, “Ignatius Ajonuma’s contributions to sports journalism have been invaluable in promoting Nigerian athletes and sporting events both locally and internationally. He was a trailblazer and a true sports enthusiast.”
In addition to extending his condolences to Ignatius’ family, Senator John Owan Enoh also paid tribute to the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), especially its Lagos chapter where Ajonuma belonged.
