The Nigeria Minister of Sports, John Enoh has praised Nigeria Athlete, Temitope Adeshina for creating history by becoming the first female Nigerian to clear 1.97 meters in the high jump and earning a ticket at the Olympics.

She smashed the long-standing High Jump National Record of Doreen Amata at the Corky Classic in Texas, clearing an impressive height of 1.96m, in only her second NCAA meet at Eugene oregon in USA on Sunday.
The 25-year-old feat meet the Paris 2024 Olympic Standard and also be the first nigeria athelete to represent Nigeria in High Jump event at the Olympics.
Through a statement posted on the Sports Minister X account, the minister praised Adeshina.
“Temitope Adeshina, congratulations on becoming the first female athlete from Nigeria to reach 1.97 meters! You will be the first sportsperson to represent Nigeria in the high jump at the Olympics since 2016.” We’re happy for you!
The minister congratulated her.
Adeshina has made history in the country’s sports history and earned the right to compete for Olympics.
Her achievement has drawn praise from many, who are proud of her and wish her luck in the future.
