MILESTONE: Moses Simon Celebrates Reaching A Century Of Appearance For Nantes

Nantes winger Moses Simon has stated that it is “a great honor” to have marked his 100th appearance for the French Ligue 1 club.

The Nigerian international was presented with a special framed shirt by the club before the season’s finale at the Stade de la Beaujoire on Saturday.

Simon missed Nantes’ final game of the season, a 1-1 home draw against Saint-Etienne, due to a minor injury. The Canaries finished ninth on the table with 55 points, a significant turnaround from last year, when they finished 18th and had to guarantee their Ligue 1 status through playoffs.

“It’s such a great honor to have played 100 games with Nantes. Big thanks to the coaches, technical staff, players and fans for all the love and support. It was a fantastic season and I’m proud to be part of the historic moment of this great club. Allez Nantes,” the 26-year-old wrote on Twitter.

Simon initially joined Nantes on loan from La Liga outfit Levante during the 2019/20 season. After an excellent loan period, he signed a four-year agreement with the club. The former Gent man has now made 100 appearances for the club, scoring 21 goals and assisting on 22 other occasions.

Simon recorded 6 goals and 8 assists in the just concluded 2021/22 campaign. He was also instrumental in the club’s French Cup victory, scoring the last penalty in a shootout win against Monaco in the semi-finals. The club defeated Nice 1-0 in the final, securing a spot in the Europa League group stages for next season in the process.
