Super Eagles midfielder, Mikel Agu has recovered from an injury which kept him out of action for three months ahead of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, Sports 247 can confirm.
The Nigeria international who was instrumental for his Portuguese club Victoria Setubal before he got injured in February is set to return to action when they host Boavista in a Primeira Liga match on Monday.
Agu who scored a goal in 15 league appearances before getting injured is hoping he gets selected for the encounter.
“Already started full training with the team and I’m looking forward to making my first appearance since February,” Agu stated
“We have a game on Monday at home to Boavista and hopefully I would be selected for the game.”
The 25-year-old who made his debut for the senior national team in 2017 has defended the colours of the country seven times and will hope to be among the squad to represent the Super Eagles in Egypt after missing out in the friendly match against Egypt and AFCON qualifier game against Seychelles in March.
With the concern of the availability of captain John Obi Mikel, Agu’s return will be a big boast for coach Gernot Rohr ahead of the tournament.
