In their frantic efforts to finally bid farewell to the second tier of club football in Nigeria, traditional clubside in Nigeria, Mighty Jets fc of Jos have appointed,Sylvester Ekoja,as their new Technical Adviser to tinker the team this season after the unceremonious exit of Bernard Ogbe, now with premier league side, Niger Tornadoes.
Speaking to sports journalists, the President of Mighty Jets fc, Alhaji Ismaila Mabo, said the appointment and acceptance of Coach Ekoja as the Technical Adviser of the club by the management led by the Chairman,Alex Wukari,is a huge and positive sign that the club in no time will return to where it ought to be, rubbing shoulders with her temporaries like Rangers of Enugu, Kano Pillars, Enyimba of Aba,among others.
Ismaila Mabo believes that there can’t be a better choice than Coach Ekoja who not only played and captained Mighty Jets, but also together with Shola Popo got promotion ticket to the premier league for the club in 2005.
According to the President, “the long absence from the elite division is because the management is yet to get a coach that knows the chemistry of the club inside out. But with the coming in of Sylvester Ekoja as the Technical Adviser, things will change for good for the club. ”
On his part,Coach Sylvester Ekoja, who also worked with Nasarawa United and Jazzy Stars Football club with whom he won some trophies with and piloted them to the quater final of the Plateau State Aiteo cup before been knocked out by the same Mighty Jets fc, commended the board and the Mighty Jets fraternity for giving him the opportunity to give his own contribution in returning the club to where it belongs, which is the elite division of club football in Nigeria.
He said that his experience will in no small measure help in getting the promotion ticket for the club. He enjoined all and sundry including the supporters and the fans of the great club to join hands with him and the technical crew in getting not only the premier league ticket, but even continental as well.
