After concluding the widely successful Mindgames Virtual Scrabble League Series where players from over 22 countries participated, organisers have concluded plans to introduce the virtual version of the sport to schools in Nigeria.
The online tournament was born due to need to keep players busy as a result of the challenges occasions by the pandemic Covid-19.
Students now have an opportunity to compete at the MGI Virtual School Scrabble Tournament which will hold from February 12-13 next year.
This was disclosed through a statement by the organiser signed by Lukeman Owolabi.
According to him, “Mindgames Incorporated is excited to announce the maiden edition of MGI Virtual Secondary School Scrabble Championship to be held from February 12 – 13, 2021. The tournament will be played on the Woogles platform online (www.woogles.io) with a star prize of 250,000 Naira on offer and is open to all secondary school students in Nigeria. Trophies and plaques will also be presented to top schools and students respectively.”
The MGI Virtual Secondary School Tournament is designed to spread the online to the grassroots with the aim of developing future world champions.
A total of 9 games will be played at each round while the CSW19 will be used for lexicon.
