Warri Wolves head coach, Evans Ogenyi has disclosed that his side’s lack of quality in the final third cost them the game against MFM FC.
The Seasiders fell at Soccer Temple, Agege on Sunday to MFM for the first time in 5 games.
Despite scoring a goal in the first half to reduce the deficit in the scoreline, the men from Warri could not finish any of the chances they created afterward.
At the post-match interview, Ogenyi said Tony Boulus’s men were lucky to win the game.
“Football is an unpredictable game. I want to repeat myself, they were lucky to win today just because they took their chances and they won. Just like you said, I had never lost to this team before.”
“Late year, I was running away with a win until they forced a draw. Every team is beatable in the league, it was just that we did not take our chances today.” He concluded.
Early goes from Odeyemi Ebenezer and Muyiwa Balogun gave MFM a 2-1 win in one of the opening games of the season.
Ogenyi and his boys will travel back to Warri without a point but take consolation in a goal scored by John Paul Chinedu in the 26th minute.
The Seasiders will now prepare for the week 2 actions of the NPFL as they will be playing at home for the first time this season.
