After third time of asking at home ground and 5th time for the whole season, Delta Force FC picked it’s first three points of the season with a win over hard fighting Go Round FC of Omoku at the J J Okocha Stadium in Ogwasi-Uku. A first half cleanly taken penalty by Ifeanyi Edeh gave Sunday Okoh’s boys their first win of the season.
Delta Force FC came into this game knowing that anything short of 3 points will put the club in a difficult position going into the season. And with that mindset, The Delta Football Ambassadors wasted no time in making their presence felt and intention known as early as 5th minute of the encounter, Ezeh Ekwutosim fired inches off Chizaba in Go Round FC’s post off Ifeanyi Edeh’s chest down.
With that early move, protocol was established. Delta Force FC with all the questions while Go Round FC with shaky answers. The pressure eventually paid off in the 22nd minute when Ekwutosim was fouled by Go Round FC defender leaving the match official with no option than to point to spot. Ifeanyi Edeh did the honors as he sent Chizaba the wrong way to give Delta Force a deserved lead and scoring Delta Force FC’s first goal at home.
Minutes later, it could have been two, Edeh the tormentor in Chief was at it again as he did brilliantly to create a chance for his partner in crime Ekwutosim who could only find the waiting arms of Chizaba from yards out.
That was as good as it got for both sides going into the halftime break with the home team feeling they could have scored more while the away side happy with the score line. Delta Force FC started the second half the way they started the first half as they could have gone ahead if Bala Peter have kept his header down off a beautiful cross by Robert Chukwudi. Nothing much to report after then as both sides took their feet off the pedal with speculative shots from distance. And that was how it ended 1-0 in favor of Delta Football Ambassadors. A timely and an important victory as far as moral and team psychology are concerned.
Up next for Delt Force is a trip to Lagos where they will be guest at the Agege Stadium to Stationery Stores on Saturday 13th of March 2021. A match which the Technical Adviser of Delta Force FC Sunday Okoh will be hoping for more and improved performance from today’s outing on Saturday.
