Megbodofo Teminujesu Secures Kano’s First Medal At 2024 National Youth Games

In a significant achievement at the 8th edition of the National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State, Kano State swimmer Megbodofo Teminujesu clinched a bronze medal in the boys’ 100-meter backstroke.

This marks the first medal for Kano State at the event and elevates the team’s standing among the other competing states.

Megbodofo’s skill and determination in the highly competitive race earned him a podium finish, boosting morale for Kano’s athletes and setting a positive tone for the rest of the competition.

“I’m proud to bring this medal home for Kano. It’s the first step, and I’m hopeful for more success,” Megbodofo shared after his race, beaming with pride.

Tomorrow, Megbodofo is set to compete in the 200-meter Individual Medley (IM), a challenging race that requires proficiency in all four swimming styles—backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, and freestyle.

Each stroke will be swum over a distance of 50 meters, making this event a true test of endurance and versatility.

In addition to Megbodofo’s success, Kano’s female athletes are also gearing up for their events. Among them, Blessing, another promising swimmer, will compete in the 50-meter butterfly event. As Kano’s swimmers continue to showcase their skills, hopes remain high for further medal success.

With Kano now on the medal tally, expectations are growing for the team as the competition progresses, with both swimmers and coaches eyeing more podium finishes in the coming days.

This bronze medal represents more than just individual success for Megbodofo; it marks Kano State’s entry into the competitive mix at this prestigious national event. All eyes will be on the young swimmer as he tackles the 200-meter IM next.
