Oladiran Alamu also known as ‘Destiny Omo Ologo’, convener of the Anularigba Production Boxing Tournament 2020 which is set to feature Small Doctor as one of the stage performer, newly adopted boxing sensation by the Sports Minister, Sultan Adekoya and a host of other fighters has revealed the passion behind the event hosting as a way to develop talents and provide platform for young willing boxers who have the potential of making it to the very top.
In an exclusive chit chat with sports247.ng, the 27 yr old boxer shared his plight and how he began his journey, he said, ” I have passion for boxing and have been in this line for many years now. I started boxing at the age of 12 and that zeal for this profession is really beyond me but I know am deeply in love with boxing.”
“This program is a yearly event at Iju Ifako Ijaiye and I happen to the first person to bring the boxing show here in the community and this is the sixth edition without support from anyone but the zeal is the drive and am proud of myself.”
“There is only one person I can mention who has always supported me in his own little way much more than I expected, taking me in like his own child. It has never been easy, If I had someone like him in five places, I would have gone way beyond this.”
“Comrade Sulaiman Adekoya aka Okaran, he is a free giver and one who always re-assures me in this profession. When I wanted to quit, I told him my plight and he enjoined me to keep enduring.”
“My first outing was when I represented Bayelsa at the national sports festival championship, my first trip was sponsored by Comrade Sulaimon, when I went to Burkina-Fasso, he was behind the ticket, the accommodation and welfare, infact he deserves all the applause for where I am.”
“I pray God bless him more, Anthony Joshua started from somewhere which is why this program is done to showcase what I can do, what am capable of, I organise the game and participate also, I have invited people from Burkina Fasso to come around too.”
“It has been a long ride over the years, promoters do thier job for money and that is why our boxers here in Nigeria run abroad to represent other countries, willing individuals, philantrophist who will help us avhieve our aim is all that we need.”
“I won bronze at the national championship festival with Bayelsa and I wholeheartedly hope to move beyond this spot as I know I have the talent, potentials to be one of the very best,” he allayed.
