Nigeria’s only representative in the finals of the 100 metres event at the on-going All Africa Senior Athletics Championship in Mauritius has said it was great running beside Africa record holder in the event, Ferdinand Omanyala.
Raymond who ran 10.11secs in the heats was only second to Ferdinand’s 10.05.
Speaking to Making of Champions after the race, the Nigerian said it was “great running beside him.”
“I’m just here to do my thing. We have to keep some energy for the finals. It was great running against him but I am here to just do my thing.” He concluded
Raymond later ran 10.13secs in the semi-finals to book his spot in the finals of the event.
Meanwhile top athlete, Tobi Amusan also finished in her heats as she ran 12.64secs to qualify for the semi of the 100m hurdles.
More athletes including Chioma Onyekwere, Ogho-Oghene Egwero, Emmanuel Ojeli, Rilwan Alowonle, Dotun Ogundeji, Princess Kara have also arrived in Mauritius as Team Nigeria aim to finish higher than the last edition held in Asaba, 2018.
