Team Nigeria’s first medalist at the on going Africa Senior Athletics Championship in Mauritius, Tobi Amusan has declared that she is “setting her own records”in the race.
Tobi won the 100m hurdles race yesterday despite the windy conditions to retain her title and also join likes of Glory Alozie and Maria Usifo to become the only Nigerians to retain their title at the championship.
While joyfully speaking to Making of Champions after winning her race, Tobi said “I’m elated.”
“I’m really excited. It is an honor coming out here to execute my race and put Nigeria on top podium, I’m really excited.” She concluded.
When asked about breaking Glory Alozie’s record time after she ran 12.58secs in what would be a record time if upheld after confirmation, the Common Wealth gold medaliat said she’s “setting her own records”
“Well this Tobi Amusan and she is setting her own records (burst into laughter).”
On the upcoming events, the National championship, World championship and Common Wealth games, Tobi said “she will take every race at a time.”
Tea Nigeria have racked up three medals so far at the on going Africa Senior Athletics Championship in Mauritius.
